In high school softball, Pontiac moved to 4-0 with a 10-0, six-inning home win over Fieldcrest. Regan Krause pitched a five-inning, one hitter with 10 strikeouts. The Indians play a round robin on Saturday against Herscher and East Peoria.

 

March Madness is back tonight with the first of the Sweet 16 region semifinals games. That includes Loyola going up against Nevada in Atlanta. Kentucky plays Kansas State in the South Region. In the West Region, Michigan takes on Texas A & M and Gonzaga meets Florida State in Los Angeles.

 

Former Illinois State basketball player and assistant coach Dana Ford is returning to the Missouri Valley Conference as Missouri State’s head coach. Ford will be introduced at a Thursday news conference. The current Tennessee State coach replaces Paul Lusk who was fired after seven seasons.

 

Illinois State football hosted its annual Pro Day at Hancock Stadium on Wednesday. Topping the list of possible NFL draft picks from ISU is defensive back Davontae Harris who is projected as a middle-to-late round draft pick.

 

The Chicago Bulls were trounced by the Denver Nuggets, 135-102, in Chicago.
