March is National Nutrition Month, which is a time for people to learn about healthy eating and how to do it.
Registered Dietician Monica Nyman explains what the month is all about.
“So National Nutrition Month is really just a campaign that was created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and it really just allows us to highlight our profession as registered dieticians and really just remind consumers of the importance of healthy eating and this all started back in 1973, so it’s been going on for quite awhile. Just as a reminder, there are lots of registered dieticians that work in lots of settings. Here locally, you have them at the hospital and there are grocery stores that hire registered dieticians. They work in gyms and wellness centers and, of course, the staff at the St. Louis District Dairy Council all have registered dietician credentials, so we’re really proud of that and March really allows us to highlight that a little bit,” Nyman said.
Nyman was a guest on a recent Community Forum, where she explains ways to get your nutrition on track. That can be found at WJEZ.com.
