Pontiac has Saturday farmers markets in downtown Pontiac during the summer and early fall months, and the Livingston County Master Gardeners are gearing up to start their events to teach people looking for help.
Member Cathy Montgomery explains what they do.
“We also are very active at the farmers market. We are there the first Saturday of each month in the summertime, and each Saturday we have a theme that you can come learn about something new and again, if you have questions, you can ask questions coming to our desk at the farmers market,” Montgomery said.
The group has also had their Help Desk available for a couple years, and Master Gardner Cathy Montgomery explains what it is and how it can help.
“We have the help desk and it’s starting in May. We have that open during the growing season every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12, and you can call in if you have questions about plants or trees or anything growing. If you have a particular problem, you can bring in samples and we can take a look at it or even send it in to the University of Illinois,” Montgomery said.
