County Deputies have been directed to pick one day out of their week to primarily work traffic enforcement after an uptick in serious injury and fatal accidents that have happened since the first of the year.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress, he and the deputies have responded to several accidents where speeding and distracted driving has played a large role, so county deputies will be putting an extra emphasis in catching drivers who display those bad driving habits. Childress said this isn’t a money making venture for the county, but a life-saving effort to try to keep people’s eyes on the road and slow them down.
Childress also said consequences of committing those infractions will include receiving expensive citations, a court date and inconvenience. He asks drivers please do their part to protect themselves, their family and others by not being distracted while driving and to please slow down.
