Baseball’s Opening day will have every team but two on the field. Rain is the cause of the Cincinnati Reds vs. Washington Nationals cancellation, which has been rescheduled for Friday.

  

The first game of the season puts the Chicago Cubs against the Marlins in Miami. The St. Louis Cardinals and Mets hope to keep away the rain in New York. The Chicago White Sox will open the season in Kansas City.

 

A medical examiner said former Illinois State basketball player Zeke Upshaw suffered a sudden cardiac death after collapsing on the court in an NBA G League game in Grand Rapids, Michigan last Saturday. Upshaw was pronounced dead on Monday at age 26. The medical examiner said he saw some cardiac abnormalities in Upshaw and he’s trying to determine the exact type of heart disease.

 

A former Illinois State University volleyball player is the new head volleyball coach at Rock Island High School. The Dispatch-Argus reports Jacqueline Twing takes over at her alma mater after coaching freshmen there last year. She was a setter for the Redbirds and graduated from ISU last year.
