Pontiac baseball fell to Bloomington, 4-3, despite limiting the Purple Raiders to just two hits. BHS scored the winning run on an error in the sixth inning. Fieldcrest baseball walked off a 7-6 win over visiting Blue Ridge. Landon Cook knocked in the game wining run with a single.

 

Pontiac softball scored a 7-4 home run over Coal City. Regan Krause earned the win with 11 strikeouts in five innings allowing one run. PTHS improves to 7-1 and will play today at Olympia and at home against Central Catholic on Thursday. Fieldcrest softball routed Blue Ridge, 10-0. Emma Lorton pitched five innings of one hit ball striking out 13 for the win.

 

The Villanova Wildcats have their one shining moment again, taking down Michigan, 79-62, in the NCAA title game in San Antonio. Jay Wright’s Wildcats are in the winners’ circle for the second time in three years. The Wildcats dominated this year’s NCAA Tournament, winning all six of its games by double figures. It’s the first time that’s been done in 50 years.

 

The Chicago Cubs managed just two hits in a 1-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. The Cubs have been shutout in back-to-back games.

 

The Chicago White Sox suffer their first loss of the season, 4-2,at Toronto, despite a pair of Wellington Castillo homeruns.

 

The St. Louis Cardinals got a three run homer from ex-Illinois State Redbird Paul DeJong and a two-run blast from starting pitcher Miles Mikolas in an 8-4 win at Milwaukee.
