Pontiac’s baseball and softball games were postponed on Thursday because of the weather.

 

Woodland-Flanagan-Cornell softball cruised to a 17-0 win over Midland in five innings. Shea Moritz collected three hits and drove in for runs in the win. Tri-Valley shutout Lexington, 6-0.

 

Jordan Spieth fired an opening round 6-under 66 to take a two shot lead on the first day of the Masters. Tiger Woods is seven shots back.

 

Jon Lester threw six shutout innings as he and three relievers combined on a four hitter in the Chicago Cubs’ 8-0 win at Milwaukee.

 

The St. Louis Cardinals were held to two hits in a 3-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the Cardinals’ home opener.

 

It was a rough home opener for the Chicago White Sox after taking the lead playing in the snow at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Detroit Tigers scored three runs while down to their last out in the ninth inning then added two in the 10th for a 9-7 win over the Sox.

 

The Central Illinois Flying Aces play their next to last home game of the season tonight against Muskegon.

 

The Chicago Blackhawks have announced coach Joel Quenneville and general manager Stan Bowman will be back next season, after missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade. The Hawks play their home finale tonight against the St. Louis Blues. The team will honor Hawks legend Stan Mikita tonight. he was a part of that 1961 title team that’s one of a dozen teams that’s being removed from the Stanley Cup to make room for more.
