Suzie’s Brainstormers, an American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team from Pontiac will be holding its annual Craft and Vendor Fair from 11 to 3 Saturday, April 21, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Pontiac.
Team member Brenda Thompson explains the purpose behind the fundraiser.
“When we started, it was to support Suzie, who was already battling her cancer. Renia Holzhauer started the team with Suzie and they started growing ideas for fundraisers and this sale was one. Suzie was instrumental along with her husband, Mark, in getting it going the first couple of years. Then we lost her, but we continue the sale because we want to raise money for research because we truly believe in it. That’s what the American Cancer Society does – they raise money for research and research gets us new medication and new treatments and longer lives. We talk about celebrating birthdays – that’s what it’s all about,” Thompson said.
Included in the day will be more than 20 different crafters and vendors, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and food available. The church is located at 210 N. Deerfield Road in Pontiac.
