Caring Closet happening Saturday

The Pontiac Bible Church will be holding its spring edition of the Caring Closet from 9 to 1 Saturday.

Organizer Barbara Wilkinson explained how this free event works.

“You simply come in. We have people wait in the auditorium. We release about 35 people at a time. In recent years, we’ve gone to a colored wristband system, which we’ve done to try to make it more fair in terms of shopping time and people waiting. You’re released into that auditorium with a large bag for your shopping and you have about a half hour for shopping and we ask you take your merchandise to your vehicle. If your family needs more than that, you’re welcome to go around, get back in line, and go through a second time. There’s no charge, there’s no questions asked and you don’t need to qualify in any way,” Wilkinson said.

They are still accepting donations.

“People can donate by bringing it by the church anytime this coming week. We are there working from 8:30 in the morning until 8:30 in the evening. We would ask that you try to get your donations in by the end of the day Thursday, so that we can have them set out for people at the event on Saturday,” Wilkinson said.

The Pontiac Bible Church is located at 1611 W. Reynolds Street.
