Sunday’s Chicago Cubs-Atlanta Braves game was rained out in Chicago. It will be made up on May 14. Weather at Wrigley Field on Monday night not expected to be much better for their series opener with the St. Louis Cardinals. Some good news for the Cubs, Anthony Rizzo is expected to come off the disabled list after he suffered a back strain.

 

The entire Chicago White Sox-Minnesota Twins series was snowed out at Target Field.

 

Carlos Martinez tossed seven shutout innings, striking out 11 Reds in the Cardinals’ 3-2 win at Cincinnati. The Cardinals sweep the four-game series.

 

Former Illinois basketball player Mark Smith has gone across the river to attend Missouri. Smith, a former Mr. Basketball of Illinois is from Edwardsville. He left U of I after one season.

 

On the PGA Tour, Satoshi Kodaira won the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head, South Carolina in a three-hole playoff with Si Woo Kim.

 

The NASCAR event at Bristol, Tenn. was rained out on Sunday. They will try to get the race in Monday.
