A Morris woman was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident in rural Mazon Wednesday evening.

According to Grundy County Coroner John Callahan, the two vehicle accident happened on Route 47 near Spring Road when twenty-three-year-old Sabrina Slater went to pass another vehicle and for unknown reasons, did not see the stopped traffic turning on to Spring Road and was hit head on by a northbound pickup truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:50 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department. Assisting at the scene included Mazon, Verona, Kinsman and Morris fire departments and Mazon-Varona-Kinsman EMS.
