KSR Equipment in Pontiac is holding a retirement party for longtime employee, Bill Kallas, from 1 to 5 this afternoon.
Kallas, who just passed his 45th anniversary with the farm equipment dealership, is looking forward to seeing anyone who is able to make it.
“I’m having an open house at Kelly Sauder Rupiper for all my friends and guest and customers and family. For all the farmers out in the field, if you’ve got a few minutes, stop by and have a treat with us at the dealership from 1 to 5, as it does mark the retirement for not only for myself, but also my wife, Kathy, as she’s retiring as a real estate broker with Lyons Sullivan Realty, and we’re both retiring May 1, which is Tuesday,” Kallas said.
He looks back on his career and forward to what he’ll be able to do now.
“I’m not counting the days, because this is a very mixed departure from KSR after all these years. Obviously all the good friends I’ve worked with – the Kelly family has been excellent and you couldn’t ask for better bosses than the whole Kelly family and there are several out there at KSR. I think there are about eight family members out there. Looking forward to doing a little traveling and playing a little golf. Maybe a little more golf, as I do enjoy that as one of my past times. But Kathy and I have the six grandkids and most of them are involved in different things, including sporting events, so we’ll get to follow them around and we’re looking forward to having more time with family and friends. I’m not leaving Pontiac. I’m just retiring from the place I work,” Kallas said.
KSR Equipment is located at 805 East Howard Street in Pontiac.
