The Pontiac Police welcomed its new officer back after her time at the academy.

Pontiac Police Chief Jim Woolford gives details about the 27 year old from Eerie, Illinois, who is now part of the department.

“The biggest change that we’re most excited about is the hiring of Briana Wilkey. We hired her awhile back. She went to the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center, a brand new police academy in Decatur. She was part of the very first class going through there. She’s back and she’s beginning her 16 week field training program. It’s been awhile since we had a female on our department. She’s going to bring a lot of new ideas,” Woolford said.

Woolford was a guest on a recent Community Fourm, where he talks more about Wilkey and other things happening with the department. That is available at wjez.com.
