Michael Doran of Odell was recently named the 2018 Illinois Sheriff’s Association Scholarship winner.

Doran attends Western Illinois University and has been awarded this $500 scholarship by demonstrating outstanding scholastic accomplishments, extracurricular activities and exemplary character traits.

This scholarship is intended to assist students with the cost of tuition, books and fees. The winner was chosen by a committee of three.

Molly Snyder of Dwight was chosen as first alternate and Milan Leman of Fairbury was second alternate. A total of 28 students submitted applications and Sheriff Tony Childress encourages all students to apply again next year.
