The Pontiac Public Library is gearing up for another Summer Reading Program, full of events for people of all ages.

Director Kristin Holzhauer explains the themes of each week of the program.

“We have a five week program. Our launch party is the 9th of June. Our first week begins the 11th of June. Our themes – the first week will be Outer Space. Our second week is Under the Sea on a Voyage to Titanic. Our third week is Magical Fantasylands and Harry Potter. Our fourth week is Mother Road – A Trip Down Route 66 and Illinois History. Our fifth week will have us traveling down the trails in a covered wagon,” Holzhauer said.

She also said she appreciates all the donations that make this entire event possible.

“We are very very thankful to local businesses and local families who donate to this program. They blow me away every year with their generosity and I am incredibly grateful. The financial support, not only in just cash donations to the Summer Reading Program, but gift certificates and prizes and supplies – all of that makes a huge difference in what we’re able to do for the children and adults in Pontiac through our program. It’s going to be another great year because of their generosity, so I’m very very grateful for that,” Holzhauer said.

To register for the program, you must come to the library and do it in person beginning May 29. They are located at 211 East Madison Street in Pontiac.
