MINONK – The third Taste of Minonk is this Saturday and a number of Minonk restaurants plan to come out and share their best eats.
Minonk Business Association spokesperson Bob Hakes explains there will be all sorts of activities for people of all ages to come out and enjoy.
“Local restaurants will be providing samples of their specialties, there will be children activities to keep the kids busy, and there’s music provided,” Hakes explained. “We have a drawing at the end of the evening, which we’re giving away a T.V. and a couple of bicycles.”
Hakes said if the kids don’t feel up to eating the entire time, there will be kid-friendly activities they can take part in to get the most out of the festivities.
“There will be face painting, a balloon person who will make figurines for the kids, a train that will be giving rides, and there’s probably going to be sidewalk drawings,” said Hakes.
Hakes also said there will be a movie for the kids to watch after the Taste wraps up. He noted an empty lot in the city provides the perfect space to hold the annual event.
“It’s at Main Street and 5th Street,” Hakes said. “There’s an empty lot there and that’s where we have it every year. We fence it in and that way we can use the street and make it larger.”
The Taste of Minonk will be held this Saturday from 5-7:30 p.m. Admission for the event is $5.
