PONTIAC – Fairview Haven Retirement Community is inviting the public to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for its newest residence, Serenity Villa.
Director of Public Relations Rick Plattner said the villa will treat people that have memory-related illnesses. He said the villa will have round-the-clock support and assistance for the residents living there.
“We will have nurses 24 hours a day, we will have caregivers 24 hours a day, and just run [residents] through the daily activities of life and provide a nice, safe, secure, and pleasant atmosphere for them to entertain the twilight years of their lives,” Plattner explained.
Plattner noted that potential residents of the villa are expected to complete a screening to determine if the villa is the best place for them or if they need any other type of assistance.
“All of the residents will be screened and assessed for their memory care needs,” said Plattner.
The villa will house 20-22 people with private rooms, except for two which are built to accommodate any family member or loved one.
Regarding the staff, Plattner explained the caregivers and nurses will go through a screening process from the Alzheimer’s Association. He noted some of the potential staff members already have experience in memory support care.
“We also currently at Fairview Haven have a number of residents with memory issues – Alheimzer’s, dementia-related diseases – and they have much support and there’s a pretty rigorous screening process for those who will be given the opportunity to work at Serenity Villa,” Plattner said.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 26. The open house and tour will be open until 8 p.m. following the ceremony.
