FAIRBURY – The Prairie Dirt Classic at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway is scheduled for July 27-28, but even if people can’t physically make it to the racetrack those days, they can now watch the event unfold live on pay-per-view.

This year’s race will be broadcasted on DirtVision.com and DirtonDirt.com as the race happens. CBS Sports Network is also expected to replay the race sometime during the fall or winter. Speedway Director of Race Operations Scott Drendel said the racetrack had been attempting to get the annual race broadcasted for some time, but it took some tweaks to make sure all the stars aligned for that to happen.

“It took us to do some upgrades at the track as far as some fiber-optic and a good internet signal for them to be able to do it, and we finally got that accomplished this year,” Drendel explained “This is just huge for us, we’re very excited to be teaming with DirtonDirt.com and DirtVision.com to televise the Prairie Dirt Classic.”

Drendel said the race being televised allows people to catch a glimpse of the racetrack and Fairbury as a whole. He explained that kind of exposure can bring in more fans to attend events at the speedway.

“It gives a chance for other people, that have never been to Fairbury, to see what the whole race and the whole venue is like,” said Drendel. “If anything, it brings more people’s interest to the track. They watch it on T.V. and they go ‘man, we’ve got to go there’.”
