PONTIAC – For the ninth year, a golf outing to benefit the children of St. Jude at Wolf Creek Golf Course.
The annual Hunter Gerdes Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, July 28. Hunter’s mother, Jane, told WJEZ’s Cat Coppinger that Hunter developed a passion for golfing when he was only a few years old.
“Hunter was an avid golfer. He started golfing when he was two with my mother-in-law and she just came up with the idea after he passed to do a golf outing and that’s what we did,” Gerdes said.
Gerdes said the golf outing will allow teams of players to donate funds to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. She noted there will also be a raffle to benefit the hospital and people are invited to auction off items of their own.
“We have hole sponsors, cart sponsors, you can make baskets, gift certificates, we will take anything you want to give us to raffle off,” said Gerdes. “We have big auction items, whatever anyone wants to give, we will take.”
Gerdes mentioned people who would like more information on the golf outing can head over to www.golf4thekids.com or turn to social media.
“We have a Facebook page, it’s ‘Hunter Gerdes Memorial Golf Outing’ and they can leave us a message on there,” Gerdes explained.
Teams of four can come out and take part in the event. The cost to participate is $75 per person or $300 for a team. The event kicks off at 12:30 p.m.
