PONTIAC – The Livingston County Agricultural Fair is underway on Park Road in Pontiac.
The annual fair has an abundance of events and activities for the public to come out and enjoy through the remainder of the week. Fair co-chair Jesse Mackinson said there’s even a spot in the fair where people can get out of the sun and relax in an air conditioned environment.
“We have beautiful weather so you don’t notice it as much, but the air conditioning is nice to sit down, enjoy your meal, and not be sweating for once,” said Mackinson. “The pavilion we’re under from the Humiston Trust is just a replacement for the pizza tent. You’re in the shade, there’s a nice breeze coming through, you can sit down and enjoy yourself, it’s just beautiful.”
Livingston County 4-H is also deeply rooted in the county fair. Fair ambassador Elaina Stadel, who has been involved in 4-H for several years, said the organization does more than get kids interested in agriculture at a young age.
“We help people. We’ve done blankets for young kids, we’ve done a camp for kids to come in and they can do some games and get along,” Stadel explained. “We’ve done a lot [to try and] help the community.”
The fair runs through Saturday night. A full list of the fair’s events can be found at www.livingstoncountyagfair.com.
