Illinois American Water to use $575,000 to replace, upgrade water main

PONTIAC – Illinois American Water is investing hundreds of thousands of dollars to replace and install over 2,600 feet of its water main in Pontiac.

The organization announced Tuesday it would be use $575,000 to upgrade and repair the water service distribution system in town. Work is expected to begin sometime next month on Cleary Street from Mill Street to Division Street. Work will also be occurring on Howard Street from Ladd Street to Wood Street and on Wood Street from Howard Street and Madison Street.

Operations Superintendent for the Pontiac District Tim Tuley explained the work on the water main is crucial to ensure customers continue receiving the highest quality water.

“This work to replace and upgrade water mains will help ensure adequate water pressure and flow to homes, businesses, and for fire protection,” Tuley said.

The maintenance work is being done to replace water mains where there are leaks. People who are directly impacted by the work will be notified by mail about the necessary steps the should take concerning the ongoing project.
