Illinois drivers just missed being in the top 10 states in the country for safe driving. Illinois comes in 11th in a recent study conducted by Smart Asset. The rank was determined by looking at the number of insured drivers, DUI statistics, the number of highway fatalities, and other factors. Illinois was singled out by the researchers for having the lowest DUI rate in the country, weighing in at less than one DUI for every 1000 drivers.
