Pontiac Approves Waste Disoposal Contract

By Neil Doyle

The City of Pontiac has made a decision regarding the city’s waste disposal.

Published report indicate that a unanimous vote by the municipal board approved a 10-year contract with Republic Services.

Community members concerned with the contract worry about waste container sizes. The contract allows residents to switch to a 35-gallon cart after an initial 60 days using the 95-gallon carts.

Republic Services representative Jim Pozzi noted that a clause was added to the contract to provide curbside assistance service.

The curbside assistance service would be a $10 monthly surcharge per customer.
