Community Forum: Vaccination Eligibility Increases

by Todd Wineburner

As of March 5th, over 9,000 doses of the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Livingston County in clinics conducted by the health department.

According to LCHD Administrator Jackie Dever, vaccinations are being given to eligible individuals just as quickly as they’re available. She says her department has been conducting clinics in the area since late December, sometimes accommodating as many as 400 people per clinic. Livingston County school personnel who wanted a vaccination are now fully immunized as well.

The single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine that was recently approved has not yet arrived in Livingston County as the first doses have been sent to mass vaccination sites. The health department is hopeful that that vaccine will be available next month.
