Health Department Has Options for Vaccination

By Todd Wineburner

The Livingston County Health Department is working with area agencies to make sure that young county residents know that they can now be vaccinated against COVID-19 infection. The Food and Drug Administration has approved the Pfizer vaccine for 12- to 15-year-olds, and area health department officials are working with Livingston County schools and the Boys and Girls Club to make sure parents know that this option now exists. Steps for administering the vaccine haven’t changed, and anyone seeking the treatment should plan on two doses delivered about three weeks apart.

The health department is also working to inoculate those who can’t leave their homes to attend a vaccination clinic. To qualify for in-home vaccination, a person must be a Livingston County resident, they must be a person who would have to exert considerable and taxing effort to leave their home, and they must have a disability which necessitates in-home treatment. Consideration is also given to those who need special transportation services in order to leave their homes. Those who wish to apply for in-home treatment can apply to the Livingston County Health Department online at https://lchd.us/site/covid-19-vaccination/. For those with limited access to technology, the health department can make arrangements by phone at (815) 844-7174 ext. 210.

Vaccination clinic schedules and appointments are available at the LCHD website, as well.
