The Pontiac Police conducted tobacco compliance checks during the evening of November 17, with two out of ten retailers selling to minors.
According to a press release, Kelli Schaefer, employee at Trainor BP and Ted Williams, employee at Leo’s Tobacco sold tobacco to the same minor agent.
Both received citations, which carries a mandatory first offense of $200, with subsequent offenses possibly resulting in fines from $400 to $600.
These compliance checks are part of the Kids Can’t Buy Em Here campaign, which the department has been involved with since 2007.
