The Livingston County Board recently approved the Fiscal Year 2017 budget, and residents can read more than 100 pages explaining the budget, which may seem daunting.
John Clemmer, Livingston County Finance Director, was a recent guest on the Community Forum, where he broke down the full budget, beginning with the origin of its funding.
“If you look at it, about 25% of our revenue is from taxes and I think that would surprise most people. We have other sources of revenue. Probably the biggest one is the money from the landfill. We call it the Pontiac Host Fund. We get about $3 million a year as part of that agreement,” Clemmer said.
