The Livingston County Health Department will be starting the 2017 wellness clinics Wednesday, January 4.
Health Education and Marketing Director Linda Rhodes explains why the clinics are important.
“There are many things that are going on inside our body that don’t have any outward appearances. A very good example of that is blood pressure. Until it’s very extreme, there are no symptoms, which is why (high) blood pressure is often called the ‘silent killer.’ Also, we don’t know if our cholesterol is too high, because we don’t have any outward symptoms of that,” Rhodes said.
Basic wellness services include a blood pressure screening and a blood chemistry profile is included in the $65 cost. Prostate cancer testing for men and thyroid, A1C and osteoporosis screenings are available at an additional cost. Most health insurance plans can be billed for clinic fees.
To make an appointment for Wednesday or for the next clinic, which is planned for the 18th, call the health department at 844-7174, extension 0.
