A suspect is being questioned for the Tuesday murder of a woman in rural Streator.

According to a press release from the LaSalle County Sheriff Thomas Templeton, a call came in shortly after 4 p.m. of a report of a woman being assaulted in her home in the Spring Lake area of rural Streator. Officers and ambulance personnel responded to find the woman deceased. Information was developed, leading officers to search for an older model black Lincoln Continental. The car was spotted south of Ottawa, and Ottawa Police attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled to the north into Ottawa and after a pursuit, officers were able to take the suspect into custody after the suspect struck a car in a Casey’s store parking lot.

The suspect is currently being interviewed at the LaSalle County Sheriff’s office. The investigation into the death of the female is being conducted by the sheriff’s office and the LaSalle County State’s Attorney. Autopsy results are pending.
