College basketball tonight on WJEZ, the Fighting Illini will host Northwestern. Illinois tries to spoil the Wildcats’ bid to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time. We take the air at 6 tonight.
 
In the high school girls’ postseason, Pontiac hosted the Class 1A Super-Sectional where Heyworth lost to Harvest Christian of Elgin, 54-39. Central Catholic won the Class 2a Super-Sectional at Champaign, 70-47, over Teutopolis. The Saints will take on Elgin St. Edward in the semifinals Friday night at Redbird Arena.
 
In the girls’ Class 3A Sectional tonight, U-High takes on Peoria Richwoods at Bartonville.
 
In the boys postseason, El Paso-Gridley topped Eureka, 58-48, in the 2a Regional at Farmington while Dee-Mack ran past Knoxville, 52-37. At Gibson City, GCMS ousted Tri-Valley, 57-44. At Spring Valley, Fieldcrest lost to Peru-St. Bede 52-46. In Class 1A, Flanagan-Cornell downed Lexington 48-32 at LeRoy. At St. Anne, Tri-Point bested Grant Park 70-68.
 
Illinois Wesleyan closes out its season tonight hosting Augustana. The Titans will try to stop the Vikings from wrapping an outright CCIW title.
 
The Titan women visit Wheaton with the conference title at stake. Wesleyan could snag the top seed and home court advantage in the conference tournament with a win.
 
Illinois state forward Deontae Hawkins has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time of his career. Hawkins averaged 18 points and 7 rebounds in two ISU wins last week. the Redbirds play their home finale tomorrow night against Southern Illinois.
