LCHA Goes Smoke Free

By Cynthia Grau/WJEZ News

Livingston County Housing Authority properties have become 100 percent smoke free as of June 1.

According to a press release from the Livingston County Public Health Department, the major factors contributing to this decision came from the wish to protect people and property. From second hand smoke and helping people kick the habit, to saving money through reduced turnover costs from a smoking tenant to the next tenant and decreasing fire risks, the housing authority board thought this was the best route to take.

The health department continues to make resources available for those wishing to quit smoking. For more information, contact them at 815-844-7174.
