A Livingston County Relay for Life Team recently presented 40 chemo care bags to the cancer services clinic at OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center.
The bags of blankets, lotion and other comfort items were donated by Suzie’s Brainstormers, in memory of Susan Mackinson, who passed in 2016 after her battle with cancer.
Community Relations Coordinator Pam Meiner spoke about how much the bags mean to everyone at the center.
“This is the third year the team has generously donated these bags. The staff, the physicians appreciate it greatly and most of all, the patients appreciate these bags so much. It’s such a thoughtful, generous gift. The items provide comfort and help pass the time for patients who spend a lot of hours there receiving treatment. Sometimes they may not have even thought of bringing those items when they come for treatment, but once they have a bag and use those items, they really appreciate it too. Such a thoughtful gift by the team and a way to continue to honor their friend, Suzie,” Meiner said.
The cancer services clinic is at 609 N. Ladd Street in Pontiac.
