Illinois State baseball gave up a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to break a tie as Bradley rallied for an 8-6 win. Illinois State softball beat Missouri State 5-2 for the four series sweep of the season for the Redbirds.
Illinois Wesleyan baseball split a twinbill at Augustana, losing 14-5 and winning 12-2.
The Cardinals won at Milwaukee 6-4 as Mike Leake threw six solid innings and drove in the go-ahead runs. The Cardinals take today off before opening their longest homestand of the seeason tomorrow night against the Blue Jays.
The Reds ended the Cubs’ four-game winning streak 6-4. Bronson Arroyo held the Cubs to three hits in his six innings. The Cubs are in Pittsburgh tonight as Brett Anderson starts for Chicago against the Pirates’ Chad Kuhl.
The White Sox earned a 6-2 win over the Indians as Derek Holland threw six innings and Melky Cabrera drove in a pair of runs. The Sox host the Royals tonight, Jason Vargas against Miguel Gonzalez on the mound.
The Bulls are now even in their first round playoff series as the Celtics took Game 4 104-95. Game 5 is Wednesday in Boston.
