Illinois State men’s basketball has announced junior guard D.J. Clayton is transferring out of the Redbird program. Clayton transferred to ISU for the past season from Palm Beach State College. He averaged 6.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists and played in all 35 games of the past season. He was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Bench Team. Clayton has not announced his next school.

Former LeRoy basketball standout Matt Chastain has announced plans to transfer from Loyola. Chastain suffered a season-ending knee injury three games into his freshman campaign. Chastain led the LeRoy Panthers to a state title last year.

Illinois Wesleyan baseball lost 12-0 at North Central College. 

Illinois Wesleyan lacrosse squads won CCIW tournament semifinals. The women defeated Carthage 12-6 and will travel to Augustana for Saturday afternoon’s championship. The Titan men beat Elmhurst 23-12 and visit Carthage College on Saturday for the final. 
The Cardinals were rained out on Wednesday, and today’s scheduled getaway game against the Brewers has been moved to this evening with a 6:15 first pitch. Starters remain Chase Anderson for Milwaukee and Adam Wainwright for the Cardinals.
The Cubs came from behind for a 5-4 victory over the Phillies. Willson Contreras hit a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning for the Cubs’ big blow. The series concludes this afternoon at Wrigley Field with Zach Eflin on the hill for the Phillies and John Lackey starting for the Cubs.
The White Sox lost 6-1 at Kansas City. Royals starter Nathan Karns recorded a rare four-strikeout sixth inning. The series finale is this afternoon at Kauffman Stadium with Derek Holland getting the mound call for the Sox against the Royals’ Ian Kennedy.
