Tommy Pham’s 2-run homer in the 14th inning, his second long ball of the game, led the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-4 win in Atlanta as the Cardinals sweep the three-game series. The Cardinals play in Miami tonight.

 

The Chicago Cubs lost an 18-inning marathon to the New York Yankees, 5-4, at Wrigley Field. Starlin Castro forced in the winning run on a fielder’s choice. The Cubs forced extras by scoring 3 in the ninth inning off Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman. The Cubs visit Colorado tonight.

 

The Chicago White Sox were swept by Baltimore over the weekend, losing the finale 4-0, Sunday. The White Sox have Monday off.

 

The St. Louis Blues were eliminated in six games as the Nashville Predators won 3-1 to advance to the NHL Western Conference finals for the first time.

 

Illinois State softball settles for a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title with Northern Iowa after the Panthers won the regular season finale, 8-2, in Normal. ISU will be the number two seed in the MVC Tournament which starts Thursday at Marian Kneer Stadium.

 

ISU baseball lost to Indiana State 4-3.

 

Illinois Wesleyan’s men’s and women’s lacrosse teams have clinched their first bids to the NCAA Tournament. The men will visit Aurora on Wednesday afternoon, while the women will play at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. Sunday.

 

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. claimed his first NASCAR victory by passing Kyle Busch in overtime at Talladega.

 

Brian Harman won the PGA’s Wells Fargo Championship.
