The Livingston County 4-H Park was filled with children participating in the Summer Safety Camp yesterday.
The Camp provided interactive and fun stations, which taught lessons on being safe at home, near water and in the sun.
Livingston County Farm Bureau Manager Jody Hughes said children were moving from station to station, enjoying the day.
“We are excited. We have about 50 kids out here today. We have some awesome volunteers helping,” Hughes said.
Eight-year-old Libby Imhoff said this was her first year at the came, which is held every other year. She said she enjoyed her day and urged other children to attend the next camp.
“Doing the ATV and lawnmowers; it is fun to do and I think they should do it next year,” Imhoff said.
Twelve-year-old Samantha Streid had attended camp before and came back this year, hoping for the same experience she had last time.
“It was just really kind of fun and educational,” Streid said.
The camp was coordinated by Livingston County’s Farm Bureau, Soil and Water Conservation District, U of I Extension, 1st Farm Credit Services, Prairie Central Co-Op, USDA Farm Service Agency and OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center.
