Randal Grichuk drove in four runs with a pair of RBI doubles as the St. Louis Cardinals salvaged one game in their weekend set with the San Francisco Giants, winning 8-3 at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals have the day off and will visit the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night.

 

Kris Bryant homered twice to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 13-6 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs host the Giants tonight.

 

The White Sox plated five runs in the first inning to top the Seattle Mariners, 8-1. The Sox play at Arizona tonight.

 

The Illinois softball season came to a close Sunday as the Illini fell to tournament host Kentucky, 4-2, in the NCAA Kentucky Regional Final. The Illini finish the second season under head coach Tyra Perry with a 39-20 record.

 

The Normal CornBelters handed the Florence Freedom their first loss of the season 11-6 at the Corn Crib. The Belters are off today. They will be back home Friday.

 

Illinois State’s softball team plays its opening game in the National Invitational Tournament finals this morning in Lynchburg, Virginia against Lamar.

 

The Pittsburgh Penguins clobbered the Ottawa Senators, 7-0, to take a three-games-to-two lead in the NHL’s Eastern Conference finals.

 

The Cavaliers’ NBA record-tying 13-game playoff winning streak is over after the Boston Celtics earned a 111-108 victory at Cleveland to get within two games to one in the Eastern Conference finals.

 

They needed to play extra golf at the AT&T Byron Nelson before Billy Horschel came away with the title. Horschel sank a par putt on the first playoff hole after Jason Day pulled his 4-foot putt left and past the hole. Horschel fired a 1-under 69 on Sunday, including a 60-foot birdie putt on 14.

 

New Zealand’s Scott Dixon has grabbed the pole for the Indy 500 with a four-lap average of 232.164 mph in Sunday qualifying.
