Dwight’s Dircks dipping his toe into theater

A Dwight man is stepping away from a name he made in sports and venturing into theater.

Triston Dircks, 19, a 2014 graduate of Dwight High School and former All-Conference Basketball player, will be performing in “The Rock ‘n’ Roll Musical, Rocky Horror Show” at the Bicentennial Park Theatre in Joliet, beginning Friday, June 19.

Dircks said the show is interactive and being a cult classic, many attendees choose to dress in costume for the performance.

“Everyone thinks of a play as you sit there, you watch and it’s over,” Dircks said. “But this one is more…you’re really involved. Everyone is singing and dancing and the audience is really involved. There’s one part we come down the runway and we interact with the audience. We just have a lot of fun and it will be a good time.”

Shows are June 19, 20, 26, 27 and 28. Ticket information is available by calling 815.724.3760.
