Streator’s Maggie McGurk was named Area MVP. The Toledo recruit went 3-for-4 with two doubles and threw seven strikeouts. Central Catholic’s Maggie Segobiano was named Intercity Most Valuable Player. The Wisconsin-LaCrosse recruit went 3-for-5.

Illinois State University athletics will present its first Institutional Great Award this fall to Redbird alum Steve Fisher. He coached Michigan to a national basketball title in 1989 and recently retired after a long and successful run at San Diego State. The 2017 Hall of Fame class will include Kara Nelson Wiesmeyer, Aisha Praught Leer, Samantha Richdale, Darrell Smith and Kim Sucher Becker.
