ESPN analyst Dick Vitale is coming to Pontiac to raise money for the Basketball Museum of Illinois and the V Foundation this fall. Dickie V will speak at the Pontiac Elks Country Club on Thursday, September 7. Tickets for the event include a meet and greet, a chance to hear Vitale speak and take part in a live and silent auction. Tickets are $50 each. The Cardinals settle for a doubleheader split with the Brewers. Milwaukee scored three runs in the 8th inning to get past St. Louis 8-5 after the Cardinals won the opener 6-0. Cards rookie Jose Martinez hit 2 homers in the opener with his mom seeing him play in person in the majors for the first time.
The Cardinals send former Redbird Paul DeJong to AAA Memphis before the games.
 
Anthony Rizzo homered in his first game in the leadoff spot as the Cubs crushed the New York Mets 14-3.
 
Matt Davidson’s first career grand slam helped the White Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-1.
 
The CornBelters dropped their opener of their series at Joliet 9-4. Yeixon Ruiz hit two homers for the CornBelters in the loss.
