Pontiac has a state championship in bass fishing. The Pontiac-Morton co-op unified bass fishing team win the state tournament at Carlyle Lake yesterday. Pontiac’s Case Bear caught the biggest bass weighing 2 pounds, 15 ounces. El Paso Gridley finished 6th in overall team results. EPG’s Jarrin Landrus caught a 3-pound, 5-ounce bass while teammate Tucker Schlipf reeled in a 2-pound, 5-ounce bass.

 

The Cardinals closer gave up a tiebreaking two-run homer to Eric Thames in the ninth inning as the Milwaukee Brewers won 6-4 in St. Louis. The first-place Brewers take three out of four in the series. The Cardinals are in Baltimore tonight.

 

The Cardinals have recalled former Redbird Paul DeJong from AAA Memphis as Kolton Wong goes back on the disabled list with a right tricep strain.

 

Rookie Matt Davidson homered for the fourth straight game as the White Sox topped Baltimore 5-2. The White Sox visit Toronto tonight.

The CornBelters came back home and rolled to an 8-1 win over Joliet. The Belters erupted for six runs in the 6th. to break the game open. The Schaumburg Boomers come to the Corn Crib to open a weekend series tonight.
