The Pontiac Township High School baseball program is featuring several camps next month. Incoming Freshmen and Sophomores will hold their camp on July 12-14, from 8:30-10:00 am each day. Incoming Juniors will camp following the F/S camp, from 10:30-Noon.
The PTHS Youth Camps will be held on July 26-28, at the Varsity field. Players entering 3rd/4th grades will camp in the morning from 8:30-10:00 am, with check-in 15 minutes prior to camp starting.
The Feeder School Pre-Season Camp will be held the 26th-28th, from 10:30-Noon, each day. This will be an excellent opportunity for PTHS feeder school program players to get a jump start on their Jr. High season which starts on July 31. As with the other camps, all campers should check-in 15 minutes prior to their camp starting.
Tuition for the camp is $40. Forms can be obtained from the PTHS school website, the Pontiac Indians Baseball Facebook page, or from the PTHS Sports Boosters Facebook page.
The registration deadline for the FR/SO/JR camps is Monday, July 10. The deadline for the youth camps is Monday, July 24.

The CornBelters took Monday off before a brief three-game, two-day series against the Evansville Otters at the Corn Crib. The series features lots of day baseball, beginning with a doubleheader this afternoon with Game 1 at 2:35. The final game of the series is Wednesday afternoon at 1:35 before Toby Keith comes into the Crib for Thursday’s night’s big concert.
The Cardinals handled the Reds 8-2 in a Monday afternoon makeup game at Busch Stadium. Former Illinois State Redbird Paul DeJong collected three hits while Randal Grichuk and Jedd Gyorko each homered. The Cardinals are in Arizona tonight with right-handers Carlos Martinez for the Cardinals and Taijuan Walker for the Diamondbacks on the mound.
The Cubs held off the Nationals 5-4, surviving a four-run ninth inning rally. Willson Contreras became just the ninth catcher to lead off the game with a home run. The rematch tonight in Washington pits Jake Arrieta for the Cubs and Max Scherzer for the Nationals in the pitching match-up.
The White Sox lost 6-5 to the Yankees as the South Siders fell short in a four-run ninth-inning rally. Right-hander Luis Severino starts for the Yankees tonight against Sox lefty Jose Quintana at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Florida took Game 1 of the College World Series championship round with a 4-3 win over LSU. Brady Singer struck out a College World Series-record 12 batters in the pitching win. Game 2 of the best-of-three series is tonight in Omaha.
Russell Westbrook is the NBA MVP after setting a record with 42 triple-doubles last season. Draymond Green is Defensive Player of the Year.
