Pontiac Township High School’s new head boys basketball coach selection is a familar face in the Indians gym. Durrell Robinson was announced as the choice on the school’s Facebook page Sunday night. Robinson was the coach of the Pontiac 66ers last season and was the Midwest Professional Basketball Association Coach of the Year. Robinson also played in Pontiac Holiday Tournament as a 1995 graduate of Danville High School. Robinson has been a player, scout and coach at the high school, college and professional levels. Robinson replaces Brandon Martin, who resigned to accept a full-time position in Savoy. The PTHS board will consider the recommendation at its July 17 meeting.
The Cardinals lost 7-2 to the Nationals in a highlight pitching match-up, but Max Scherzer won the duel over Carlos Martinez, who gave up a pair of two-run homers to Bryce Harper. The Cardinals host the Marlins tonight with Jeff Locke facing Adam Wainwright on the mound.
The Cubs captured a 6-2 win in Cincinnati behind two home runs from Ian Happ. The Cubs take today off and host the Rays tomorrow afternoon.
The White Sox beat the Rangers 6-5 as Yolmer Sanchez smacked a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Sox are in Oakland tonight with lefty Carlos Rodon on the hill against A’s right-hander Jharel Cotton.
The CornBelters won 7-2 at Southern Illinois. The Belters are off today and begin a six-game homestand tomorrow with Washington starting with an earlier 5:35 game time at the Corn Crib on the Fourth. Frontier League All-Star selections will be announced this afternoon.
The Cardinals’  Carlos Martinez was named to the National League All-Star squad along with catcher Yadier Molina.
One Chicago Cub was chosen, closer Wade Davis, whicle Kris Bryant is one of five finalists in a fan vote runoff.
In the American League, outfielder Avisail Garcia is the only White Sox selection.
Kyle Stanley won the PGA’s Quicken Loans National in Maryland, parring the first playoff hole to beat Charles Howell III.
Danielle Kang earned her first win on the LPGA tour. The 24-year-old won the Women’s PGA Championship at Olympia Fields, Illinois.
