Today is the deadline for the first set of summer baseball camps at Pontiac Township High School. Incoming freshmen and sophomores will hold their camp on July 12-14, from 8:30-10:00 a.m. each day. Incoming Juniors will camp following the F/S camp, from 10:30-noon. Players should check in 15 minutes prior to camp start on the first day. Deadline to register is today.
The PTHS Youth Camps will be held on July 26-28, at the Varsity field. Players entering third and fourth grades will camp in the morning from 8:30-10:00, with check-in 15 minutes prior to camp starting.
The Feeder School Pre-Season Camp will be held the 26th-28th, from 10:30-noon, each day. This will be an excellent opportunity for PTHS feeder school program players to get a jump start on their Jr. High season which starts on July 31. As with the other camps, all campers should check-in 15 minutes prior to their camp starting.
Deadline to register is Monday, July 24 for the youth and feeder school camps.

The Cardinals enter the All-Star break on a high note, with the highest sounded by former Illinois State Redbird Paul DeJong. The Cards beat the Mets 6-0 as DeJong homered for the third straight game. He finished the three-game series with three homers and four doubles, going 9-for-12.
The break might be good for the Cubs after the Pirates shellacked them 14-3. Pittsburgh scored 10 of the runs in the first inning off Jon Lester, who didn’t make it out of the opening frame.
The Cardinals and Cubs are tied at the break with 43-45 records, tied for second in the National League Central, five-and-a-half games behind the Brewers.
The White Sox nearly made history at Coors Field before Mekly Cabrera spoiled Kyle Freeland’s no-hit bid with a one-out single in the 9th. the Rockies won 10-0. No Rockies pitcher has even thrown a no-hitter on their home field. The Sox enter the break with an American League worst 38-49 record.
The CornBelters scored first again but Traverse City broke a tie in the seventh with two runs and added three insurance tallies in the ninth for an 8-3 win. The Belters are 24-27 at the break, fourth in the Frontier League West Division.
