The Pontiac Kiwanis met Wednesday for lunch and learned about the merger between LivCom 911 and the Streator 911.
The combination created the Vermilion Valley Regional Communications Joint Authority, or VCOM, and Director Randy Wittenberg explained that the February joining of the two call centers shouldn’t have been noticeable.
“There’s no difference in the services you’re receiving now. The services they were getting before we moved from LivCom to Vermilion Valley, there’s no difference. Actually, I think the services are highlighted a little bit better. We’re getting officers out the door faster and our equipment is better. Actually, I think we’ve been very fortunate here that we’ve had the financing to be able to do some of the things we’ve done. We’re just very fortunate,” Wittenberg said.
The call center remains at the Livingston County Public Safety Complex at 844 W. Lincoln Street in Pontiac.
