Your morning look at sports

The White Sox split a doubleheader with the Twins. The South Siders took a big lead in the opener and held on for a 7-6 win, but the Twins captured the nightcap 10-2 behind three-run homers from Jorge Polanco and Brian Dozier to end Carson Fulmer’s first start after 1 1/3 innings. The five-game series continues tonight as right-hander Kyle Gibson starts for the Twins while Lucas Giolito makes his Sox debut.

The Cardinals return to action after Monday off to begin a series with the Padres tonight at Busch Stadium. Clayton Richard is on the mound for the Padres as the Cardinals counter with Lance Lynn.

The Cubs visit Cincinnati this evening after taking Monday off. Right-handers John Lackey for the Cubs and Homer Bailey for the Reds are on the mound.

The CornBelters visit Evansville for four games after taking Monday off. The teams will play two, first finishing a suspended game late this afternoon in the second inning before the regular contest.
