In high school volleyball, Pontiac lost at IVC 25-17, 25-9. For the Indians, Madi Menninga handed out 10 assists, Madison Wright registered 5 kills and Loryn Beal brought up 9 digs. The Indians host Streator tonight.
This Friday’s Livingston County High School Football Game of the Week features the Prairie Central Hawks as they travel to Bloomington to face Central Catholic. Marc Strauss will have the call on 98.9 WJEZ at 6:55 from Bill Hundman Memorial Field.
The Cubs handled the Pirates 6-1. The series continues tonight at Wrigley Field with right-handers Chad Kuhl for the Bucs and Jake Arrieta for the Cubs on the hill.
The Cardinals swing back into action tonight with a series at Milwaukee. Luke Weaver starts for the Cards while the Brewers hand the ball to Matt Garza.
The White Sox were also off on Monday ahead of a series opener tonight in Minnesota. James Shields is on the bump for the Sox against Ervin Santana for the Twins.
The CornBelters return to action after Monday off to begin the final week of the regular season on the road. The Belters are two games out of a playoff spot with six games remaining. The Belters visit Evansville tonight through Thursday followed by a weekend series in suburban Cincinnati at Florence.
The Bears confirmed receiver Cameron Meredith has a torn ACL. The former Illinois State star injured his knee in the Bears’ practice win over Tennessee on Sunday. Meredith led the Bears in receiving yards and receptions last season. Bears long snapper Patrick Scales also tore an ACL on Sunday.
Illinois State libero Courtney Pence is the first Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. She earned all-tournament honors last weekend at Baylor.
