Pontiac boys cross country won a triangular with 26 points over Streator with 30 and Tri-Point with 70. Josh Davies was third to pace Pontiac. Sarah Christopher was third to lead the Pontiac girls with no team scores kept.
The Missouri Valley Conference has released its men’s and women’s basketball schedules. The Redbird men will  open league play on December 23rd at Evansivlle and will host Indiana State on New Year’s Eve. The ISU women start conference play on December 30th when Bradley comes to Redbird Arena.
The Boston Red Sox have reportedly admitted to Major League Baseball that they improperly used electronic devices to steal signs from their longtime rival New York Yankees during a series last month. The New York Times says the Red Sox told MLB investigators that Boston manager John Farrell, general Dave Dombrowski and other team executives were not aware of the scheme.
‘Jose Martinez homered twice and fellow rookie Harrison Bader went deep in the Cardinals’ 8-4 win at San Diego. The Cardinals move within four games of the first-place Cubs and remain three games behind the Rockies in the race for the last wildcard spot.
David Freese singled in the go-ahead run in the 8th inning as the Pirates rallied with two in the eighth in a 4-3 win over the Cubs.
The White Sox lost to Cleveland 9-4 as the Indians won their 13th in a row.
