The Pontiac Parks and Recreation Department is starting a new program after Friday night home football games.

Director Taylor Baxter said last Friday was the first night they’ve held a dance after a home football game for students. He said the department looks to fill the need of giving high schoolers something safe to do after games.

“That starts about 9:00 and goes until 11. So, we have our DJ system hooked up, we have lights we borrowed from the high school – get something for the kids to do after the games, instead of going out and causing trouble, which none of them do. We heard there’s a need for kids to do something after the football games and we have the space for it, we have the staff for it, so we wanted to do it to help people out,” Baxter said.

The dance will begin immediately after the game at the rec center. A hot dog meal will be provided.
