The University of Illinois Extension continues its Dave’s Supermarket Tours in Fairbury tonight with teaching shoppers how to navigate a grocery store when looking to prepare meatless meals.
Nutrition and Wellness Educator Jenna Smith explains the hour long event.
“So we’re going to talk a little bit about how we can include some protein, some lean protein, without maybe having the actual meat. That kind of seems crazy to some people, like ‘oh you’re going to make me become a vegetarian.’ That’s not at all what we’re doing. Meat can certainly be a healthy, healthy food, however, we know we can also spend a lot less money by trying some other types of proteins. They’re generally going to be lower in fat, lower in saturated fat and lower in cholesterol, as well,” Smith said.
No registration is necessary and interested participants are asked to meet at the deli at 6 p.m.
